Orsolya Varga is a physician, legal expert and Associate Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. She holds a PhD in Health Sciences and a habilitation, and her research focuses on health policy, epidemiology, biomedical ethics and the evaluation of health interventions. She leads and contributes to numerous European research projects focusing on prevention, screening, population health and personalised medicine.

Highly involved in international research, she is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition and collaborates with several European scientific networks. Author of numerous publications, she has been ranked among the world’s top 2% most-cited researchers in her field and received the University of Debrecen’s Best Female Scientist of the Year Award in 2025. Her expertise contributes to the development of evidence-based public health approaches aimed at advancing prevention and improving healthcare systems.
